Cure Eczema

August 8th, 2008 by admin

There are three main ways to cure eczema. They are creams and medicines, diet change by eating more fruit and vegetables and the application of oils like neam or coconut oil.

Creams and medicines can work but the question is for how long and how expensive. It seams that when you remove one flare up another one occurs almost immediately on another part of your body. You can give steriod creams like hydrocortisone a go and see how it works for you. I have used many in my time including betnovate and diprogenta, some work well against the itching and swelling and some don´t. But did you know that one of causes of eczema is acidity in the digestive system. If you can get rid of the acidity you can get rid of the eczema.

The best way to do this is to eat more fruit and vegetables. In fact its better to go completely raw. To achieve beautiful skin you need to work from the inside out. By doing so you will be rewarded with younger, healthier skin. Why raw? Well heating foods above 105 degrees Fahrenheit destroys all the excellent enzymes and between 70-90% of the food’s vitamin and mineral content. Cooked foods require enzymes for digestion and your body holds a limited supply of these enzymes. Enzymes are also needed for assimilation and elimination. However, raw foods are packed full with the enzymes needed for natural digestion. So for the sake of your skin, for high vitamin and minerals and to slow down aging, eat raw foods which are full of enzymes such as pineapple, bean sprouts and papaya.

If you are looking for creams to use then Neam is said to be very effective. You can buy these creams at most health food stores. Coconut oil works very well for Infant or baby eczema on the scalp or other body areas. It soothes the rough patches or itchy rashes It’s a natural home remedy safe for your baby, a perfect eczema cream. Babies, children and adults with eczema have skin that is sensitive to any or many substances such as soap, detergents, wool, make-up, cosmetics, lipstick, mascara, nail polish, shampoos, and many others. Natural eczema treatments are best to cure eczema and I have found that virgin coconut oil is the best for healing eczema and/or dermatitis. If eczema is on your hands use coconut oil 4 or 5 times a day. Its possible to buy coconut oil online but you may want to check with your doctor first before doing so.

Controlling Your Child’s Asthma - What Is The Right Way?

November 20th, 2008 by admin

Breathing Techniques For Children with Asthma and Allergies

Asthma is a scary and often misunderstood disease that affects many children. The first time that a child has an asthma attack the parents feel completely helpless. The child often panics because he cannot breathe, and this panic makes the attack worse.

Part of the reason that asthma is so traumatic is because it is often not diagnosed until after the child has the first attack. Once diagnosed, however, there are many medications and treatments that can help an attack after it begins. Of course, most parents would say that they would rather the attack never happens. There are many ways that parents can help prevent asthma attacks in their children.

Once you realize that your child has asthma, start keeping a diary of what brings on the attacks. If you can find the things that trigger the breathing difficulties, you can try to avoid exposing your child to those triggers, thus keeping the asthma at bay. When you start to notice a pattern, talk to your child’s doctor about the things that you think are causing the problems.

One step that a parent can take to keep the symptoms of asthma to a minimum is to make sure the child’s environment is kept clean.  Household items and materials that are known to collect large amounts of dust should be consistently kept clean if not gotten rid of completely. There are many products on the market that can be used in your home if your child suffers from asthma.  Along with vacuuming and routine cleaning, these products would be a great idea to keep your child’s asthma symptoms to a minimum.

For severe asthma difficulties, you may need to eliminate the pets in your home, or consider a pet that does not have fur. Having fish as aquatic animal are a great additional option for children who are asthmatic. There are certain breeds of dogs that are less likely to trigger asthma and allergies, such as poodles, so consider these options if your children enjoy having pets around.

Mold is a major trigger for asthma. Keeping your home free from mold by keeping the humidity low will help your child’s asthma. If you have a damp basement, try to keep your child out of the basement as much as possible. Make sure you don’t allow anybody to smoke inside of your home.

Cleaning products can cause asthma symptoms to worsen, so consider cleaning when your child is at school or at a friend’s house. This includes vacuuming. Vacuuming your home can stir up dust and other allergens that cause asthma attacks. Avoid using cleaning products with strong odors. Consider installing allergen filters in your furnace and air conditioners to control allergens in the air.

There are two important things you can do to reduce the effects of asthma. The first thing to do is to keep your child’s environment as clean as you can.  This is a preventative measure designed to help your child have the least amount of attacks possible.  The second thing is to keep your child’s asthma medicine, such as their inhaler, readily available at all times.  This way, if your child begins to have an attack, the results can be minimal because their medicine can be administered immediately.

Unknown Allergies Cause Most Mental Problems

November 14th, 2008 by admin

The following fact is a surprise to most people, including most MD’s

Most mental disease is caused by unsuspected brain allergies!

This fact was illuminated for me by Dr Marshall Mandell in the early 80’s.  He appeared on the Phil Donahue show, with videos of persons with mental problems caused or worsened by allergen testing.  He was the first to name such as “brain allergies”.  Since there are no “physical” symptoms such as hay fever, hives, etc, few people are even aware of them as a problem.  I have never tested anyone without finding some allergies!

In 1982, Dr Von Hilsheimer introduced the first End-Point-Titration allergy testing into Florida, and I worked with him at an allergy clinic in Orlando.  We amazed several MD allergists in that clinic with depression and many other mental problem cases being solved.

During that time, I studied allergy/sensitivity extensively. In a “standard” text on allergy, I found a list of mental diseases that surprised me.  None of my previous experience and learning in psychology had prepared me for such.  I found the following in a “standard” text on allergies as “Mental Symptoms”.  It will probably surprise you.

Schizophrenia, depression, hyperactivity (ADD/ADHD), Emotional instability or hypersensitivity, Insomnia, Chronic fatigue, crying jags, stuttering, excessive daydreaming, anxiety, panic attacks, withdrawn, listless, seizures, aggressive behavior, anger, irritability, silly, tense, restless, excited, agitated, behavior problems in children, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, poor comprehension, confusion, impaired attention, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behavior, feelings of unreality, disorientation, false beliefs or delusions, hallucinations, suicidal, feel like hurting self.

I was introduced to the latest EEG biofeedback therapy of raising the amplitude of the brain waves just above Alpha (now called SMR - 12-15 Hz) while giving a 4 day seminar to MD’s in Tbilisi, Soviet Georgia.  (later named the SMR brain wave) In the discussion that followed, I remembered that list of mental diseases caused by allergens.  I then proposed the following theory:  “Raising the SMR brain wave somehow gradually changes the affect of allergens on the brain. There’s no other viable theory.

When I returned to the US, I started  the first company to lease EEG BF equipment for home use in the US..  As you can imagine this did not endear me to the clinicians who were charging up to $250 per half hour for the service.  The actual operation is so simple that anyone with a high school education can easily learn how to do it, although the learned clinicians will (as usual) protest the necessity of a professional approach.  (This in spite of no record of harm being done to anyone, and no license being required to practice this simple therapy.)

In 2001, Dr Jiri Tyrl of the Czech Biofeedback Society listed papers about EEG biofeedback that showed the following mental diseases as being either cured or greatly improved by this feedback:

Epilepsy; ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Academic-Cognitive Enhancement; Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, Sleep Disorders, Depression, Hemispheric Asymmetry, Anger, Addictive Disorders, Brain Injury, Stroke, Coma, Spasticity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Autoimmune Dysfunctions, Headache and other Pain, Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Parkinson’s Dystonia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Autism; Cognitive Decline with Aging, Asthma Hypertension Dissociative Disorders, Creativity, Optimal Functioning, Criminal Recidivism.

While these lists (copied verbatim fro the two different sources) are somewhat, it’s apparent that both cover virtually all mental problems. To me, that was further proof that my original theory (above) is correct.

O:ne of those comic “light bulbs” went off above my head in April 2004. I suddenly realized that it could be possible to raise the SMR brain wave using subliminal messaging.

I got over 20 volunteers who sent me weekly emails detailingh their results for 4 weeks.Mostly ADD or ADHD with a few severe depressives and insomniacs in the mix. Both my allergen and my subliminal usage theories were anecdotally proved as correct. An interesting fact - 3 former “failed” users of EEG Biofeedback were included in that test, and they also failed with this one.

In 6 more volunteer tests since that time, we have shown that this therapy (named Neuroliminal Training) is at least as effective as EEG Biofeedback (aka Neurofeedback) for ADD or ADHD, depression, insomnia, autism, and epilepsy.

A current test that includes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Depression of all types, etc will be concluded in early 2009.  This test will end in January 2009.

Dr Bate is a retired orthomolecular psychologist  who invented Neuroliminal Training, a simpler and
affordable way to change brain wave amplitudes solving
ADD, ADHD, Autism, depression, insomnia, epilepsy, and more.

Why Wheat Allergy Might Kill You

November 7th, 2008 by admin

Food allergies are very common. There are several different types of food allergies but a wheat allergy is one of the most common.

A wheat allergy occurs when a person suffers an adverse reaction to the protein fractions of the wheat and all or some of the other components like gluten. When suffering from a wheat allergy your allergy symptoms will be activated when food containing wheat is eaten but it can also be from inhaling flour that contains wheat which is called baker’s asthma.

Although it is not known the exact number of people who suffer from a wheat allergy it is believed from data that has been collected that is up around the 40% mark. That’s a lot of the population that has a wheat allergy. In the baking industry it is believe that about 42% of all bakers develop baker’s asthma.

Symptoms of a wheat allergy can develop instantly or a few hours after ingesting wheat. The most common symptoms are related to the skin – eczema, itchy skin, or even hives are commonly seen.

The second most common wheat allergy symptom is related to the gastrointestinal tract with any are all of the following symptoms – nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, or diarrhea.

A wheat allergy can also affect the respiratory tract causing asthma like symptoms. And it can also cause life threatening anaphylaxis in a few unlucky individuals. The problem is many of the symptoms of a wheat allergy are caused by cross contamination from other gluten cereals like rye, barley, and oats.

For some the diagnosis of a wheat allergy is very simple. You have the same reaction every time you eat a certain food and when you remove it from your diet you no longer suffer the symptoms. Pretty straight forward right? Not always. It can be difficult to diagnosis if it is a food that you eat regularly with other foods. In these cases diagnosis usually entails a lot more.

The first step to treating your wheat allergy is to avoid all foods that contain wheat. Now that said it can be harder to do then one might think because wheat is a staple food in our diets. A wheat restricted diet creates a very restricted diet which means they may be missing out on other important nutrients. If you have children that have a wheat allergy it would be a good idea to work with a dietitian to make sure they are getting everything they need in their diet.

Sometimes children will outgrow a wheat allergy while other times they will live with it for the rest of their lives. Learning to cope can be a two part problem. First one must learn to avoid the foods that cause the symptoms and second one must learn to deal with the psychological part which our brains tend to crave most what we cannot have.

If your wheat allergy is mild you might be able to control it by reducing your wheat intake or using an over the counter medicine. And don’t forget that natural supplements can bring your body back to a healthy state and it can help energize your immune system the underlying cause of all allergies.

Tips for Treating Asthma Symptoms

November 2nd, 2008 by admin

Asthma is a chronic condition that causes your airways to constrict, making it difficult to breathe. Asthma is a serious illness; it’s also very common, and millions of individuals throughout the world suffer from it. And this number is increasing every day.

There’s no cure for asthma, but many individuals with the condition can find relief for their symptoms. It can be managed to the place where they can go about their lives in a normal fashion without experiencing constant asthma symptoms.

Asthma Attack Treatment

Prevention is the preferred method of treating an asthma attack. Find out the specific triggers for your symptoms and stay away from them. Still, there will be instances when you’ll experience asthma symptoms no matter what you do. This means that learning to manage your asthma symptoms is vital.

Bear in mind that not all asthma attacks are alike. At times, your symptoms might be more severe than others. And in a severe asthma attack the airways can close up so much that not enough oxygen gets to the vital organs in the body. This is considered to be a medical emergency. Even death can be a result of a serious asthma attack. So if you are one of the millions of asthma sufferers you need to realize just how serious your condition is.

Pharmaceuticals

Generally, medication is the preferred way to deal with asthma attacks. It can help asthma sufferers keep their condition under control and ward off an attack before it becomes serious. Asthma remedies are taken either orally or inhaled as a vapor using a metered dose inhaler.

There are actually two different kinds of medication that can be used. A bronchodilator will help out by keeping spasms in check. Anti-inflammatory treatments work by reducing the inflammation in the airways. If your asthma is particularly severe, your doctor may suggest that you use a combination of both.

These days there is a variety of prescription treatments that you can try:

*Accolade and Singulair, which are leukotriene inhibitors
*Serevent and Famoterol, long lasting bronchodilators, and
*Aminophylline or Theophylline.

Visit your doctor to find out if these medications are right for you, or to explore a natural cure for asthma.

Does/Did your infant have a milk allergy? How and when did it start?

October 30th, 2008 by admin

My baby is 9 weeks old. This week, she had diarrhea with blood in it, vomiting, and what looked like eczema. The doctor thinks it was just a GI infection. She is on Nutramigen right now and will switch back to her regular formula in a day or two to test if it was the infection or if it was a milk allergy. I'm just curious if this would be a typical onset of a milk allergy or not.

It can be. I am allergic to milk and the way that I acted from the get go was refusing my bottle (milk based formula). It was a battle (screaming, colic, intestinal probs) for my mom every day.

When I finally was off the bottle, I would refuse milk (she'd flavor it and hope I'd drink some) and to this day, I can't stand it and it makes me sick.

That was in the dark ages . . . no choices and all that.

Fast forward to 5 years ago . . . my younger daughter was nursed and whenever I was away (hardly never) and the breast milk ran out, a well meaning sitter would give her formula . . . immediate and serious vomitting, screaming, as well as water diarhea a few hours later. SHe always had a rash.

No milk = no rash, vomitting, etc.

She is five now, and she drinks milk (2% mixed with yogurt) and does better, but won't drink just straight milk. She is not allergic, but does have a lactose intolerance problem (she's been tested for allergies).

My personal advice is really talk to the ped, the rash doesn't fit the GI Diagnosis to me.

Good luck!

My baby is 3 months old and she has baby eczema. I can't see her itching. She is red on her cheeks and arms

October 30th, 2008 by admin

I dont know what to do. She gets very itchy cheeks and arms and she is too little. My doctor told me to use Aquafor which hardly does any good. Can you please help?

My daughter has severe eczema since she was 5 weeks old, she now 5 months old and I have used everything the Dr. told me to use. (Aquafor, eucrein, baby aveeno, cetaphil, hydrocortisone .5% and 1%, two different types of oral antibotics and prescription antibotic cream) none of it worked. The doctor finally precribed a middle grade hydrocoritsone cream, mometasone furoate cream, but got scared when reading the side effects and decided not to use it. I did some research and came across this website http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.p…
Look up the things you use for yourself and baby to see what chemicals are harmful.
My friend has three kids with mild eczema and she told me to try california baby products, they're organic. I purchased the sensitive baby shampoo/body wash and the calendula cream.
It's been 10 days and I have to say these products have done what prescription medicine have not been able to do. It cleared up her raw, red, pus oozing sores on her face and got rid of her craddle cap too. I only decide to purchase these things after looking up these products on that website. Majority of their products are low on the toxicity scale. Give it a try.

Treatment for eczema in infants. Granddaughter has it on her face and is miserable.?

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Severe itching; red, fine, bumpy patches. Looked at websites but would like to know what others have tried.

1. Less is often more- resist the temptation to try endless numbers of creams, ointments and lotions which often only make it worse.

2. was hit only with clear water and a cotton ball to dry- so this only once a day.

3. Use a mild hydrocortisone cream (not ointment) once daily sparingly on the face (avoid the eyes).

4. Take a careful look around at what her face contacts: bedclothes, your shoulder, mom's breast, adult's clothing, spit up nappies, her own clothes- make sure nothing is wool. Make sure there is no lanolin appplied to her or to the mom's breast.

5. Avoid all fabric softeners, dryer additives, and other chemicals and perfumes in the laundry.

6. Changing formulas or mother's diet almost never makes a significant difference- try everything else before you go that route.

7. Just be sure its eczema- intense itching is seldom seen in eczema- make sure she has not had an inadvertent exposure to poison oak or ivy oils or some other contact dermatitis.

How to treat baby eczema?

October 28th, 2008 by admin

My baby is almost 4 months old, but he developed what the doctor called a “Mild” case of eczema when he was only 1 month. Since then the so called mild case has become a full blown eczema affecting his legs, arms, chest and now – face. Some time ago I called my doctors who prescribed Mimyx crème for his eczema and it worked for about a week but then we were back at square one. I tried switching to mild soap, new scentless Aveno lotion with oatmeal for sensitive skin and yet I cannot get the eczema under control. I am taking him to the doctor again today but I just wanted to check if you had any recommendations or have had any success from personal experience treating baby eczema.
Thank you

Have you tried Melaleuca products? I know one woman who has used them for her baby girl and hasn't had any out breaks since. For babies the Koala Baby wash and Koala hair wash is what she used and also the "Renew" lotion on the babies legs and where ever possible away from the baby's face. All of melaleuca products are made to be as mild as possible. It's risk free to try the products because they have a money back guarentee. If you would like more information you are welcomed to email me at missyworkathome@yahoo.com

Here is some info on the renew lotion and eczema
